Attorney Sarah Cortez attended law school at the University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law) where she participated in UCI Law’s Immigrant Rights Clinic and Civil Rights Litigation Clinics. After law school, she spent a year with the Office of the Federal Public Defender as a UCI Law Public Service Fellow. Prior to launching her own law practice, she was an attorney with the Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project where she provided zealous representation to noncitizens facing removal. From 2017 to 2019, she was part of the Legal Orientation Program at the Adelanto Detention Facility.
Attorney Sarah Cortez is a proud South Central Los Angeles native of Mexican descent raised in the Florence-Graham/Florence-Firestone area.
